From 4 to 5 May 2023, a delegation from University of Havana visited ECNU for a series of talks on deepening cooperation between the two universities. The delegation included Prof. Marian Hernández Colina, First Vice-President of University of Havana, Prof. Dionisio Zaldivar Silva, Vice-Rector for Strategic Relations with China, Dr. Lidia Cuba, Dean of the School of Spanish, and Héctor Ferrán, Director of the Law Department.

On the morning of 4 May, ECNU Vice-President Lei Qili received the delegation at the School of Foreign Languages. He pointed out that ECNU and University of Havana could play a leading role in further strengthening cooperation and sharing quality resources, and enriching cooperation in the fields of Spanish and Latin American culture, research on Marxist thought and socialist practice, and construction of medical and health systems. Vice-President Marian Hernández Colina thanked the University for its warm welcome. She said that educational cooperation has always been an important part of the relationship between China and Cuba. The meeting on the afternoon of the 4th was hosted by Yang Yanning, Dean of SFL. The two sides discussed topics such as the introduction of experts from University of Havana, the sending of ECNU students to participate in summer and semester exchange programs at University of Havana, the joint establishment of a center for Latin America, the Caribbean and Cuba, and overseas practice bases for students.

On the morning of the 5th, the delegation held an exchange program with SFL Spanish language students and teachers, and on the afternoon, Professor Du Zhenyu, Director of the International Exchange Office, held a concluding meeting with the delegation and made preparations for the visit of ECNU delegation to participate in the first International Scientific Conference of University of Havana.
