Through 5 to 7 May 2023, the 2022 National Russian Language Competition was held at the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University. ECNU 2021 Russian language undergraduate student Ren Hongyi won the third prize, ranking the13th place in the junior group, under the guidance of Ms. Ban Jie.
As an institutionalized project of Sino-Russia humanities cooperation, the National Russian Language Competition for Universities (Всекитайский конкурс по русскому языку), organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, is the largest and highest-level event for Russian language majors in China. The competition had three rounds of elimination, not only testing the overall Russian language skills of the contestants, but also their speech and translation skills. As highly regarded by the Russian side, the event was listed on the Yandex home page for China news and reported by a number of Russian media outlets including TASS.
Since her admission into ECNU in 2021, Ren Hong Yi has been very enthusiastic about her Russian studies and has been actively working hard with high self-motivation. As the winner of the competition, Ren Hong Yi will receive full funding from the China Scholarship Council to study in Russia for one year.
In recent years, the University has been upholding the concept of excellence in education and has attached great importance to the quality of undergraduate training, and the Office of Academic Affairs has strongly supported undergraduate academic competitions. The award is the best achievement of the Russian Department in recent years in a national competition.
