On 21 March 2023, Chen Xi, a PhD student at the Australian Studies Centre of ECNU, was invited to participate in the “Global Youth Dialogue in the Post-Epidemic Era” organized by China Central Radio and Television (CGTN). The program was broadcast live to the world via CGTN Radio.
According to Chen Xi, in a time of great change, the young generation is making choices as they grow up, and growing up as they do. The uncertainty of the times is a common concern for young people, while women particularly have more concerns in choosing a career, despite the significant progress made in promoting gender equality and breaking the glass ceiling.
On the subject of the contradiction between supply and demand, Chen Xi believed that the fundamental purpose of education, especially higher education, is not to train employees for employers. Schools should gradually implement the concept of “education for the whole-person development”.
On the issue of youth employment and life in the post-epidemic era, Chen Xi said that globalization has not been dissolved by the epidemic. On the contrary, it remains to be the mainstream of social development.
