The Prix Goncourt was created in 1903 and is awarded to the best French-language novel published in France in that year. At present, more than 30 countries in the world have established the Prix Goncourt, and China is the first Asian country to do so. The third session of the Prix Goncourt Literary Awards China was judged by a panel of postgraduate students from ten universities, including ECNU.
Under the guidance of Prof. Yuan Xiaoyi and Jin Jufang, French major postgraduate students from the classes of 2021 and 2022, as well as some PhD students, carried out a book club to read and discuss the eight shortlisted works for two and a half months before submitting the nominated book The Sum of Men to the selection organizers.
On the afternoon of 28 March, the results of the third Goncourt Prize for Literature in China were announced at the residence of the French Ambassador to China, Mr. Yutang Bai.
This year’s Goncourt Prize for Literature in China Selection came to a successful conclusion, with students gaining a great deal from the event and looking forward to an exciting performance in the next session.
