The appointment ceremony for the Key Language Education Research Centre Advisers and Primary & Secondary School Fellows at ECNU was successfully held on 15 March. The Centre aims to explore the development of foreign language talents in basic education and higher education, and to provide a talent pool and supply for the country’s active participation in global governance, as well as to provide a broader development platform and growth opportunities for teachers and students. The Centre appointed nine secondary school teachers as the Centre’s Primary and Secondary School Fellows, Guo Kanliang as the Centre’s Deputy Director, and Liu Guohua, Gong Yaochang and Ding Minping as the Centre’s Advisors.
President Yang Yanning said that SFL hopes to work with the teachers to carry out forward-looking research and explore new pathways for the development of elementary education and talent training in key languages.
Liu Guohua, Vice President of the Shanghai Education Association for International Exchange, pointed out that “internationalization” is the highlight and advantage of Shanghai’s basic education. Thus, he looked forward to making the training of talents in key languages a new calling card of Shanghai education.
Yin Song, Director of the Centre, said that the “Foreign Teachers in the Classroom” program was both interesting and meaningful, and that the effectiveness of the teaching had been fully accepted by both students and foreign teachers.
In 2023, the Centre will actively carry out research on related topics, organize in-depth exchanges between secondary school teachers and university teachers for them to discuss teaching and research issues and share practical experiences.
