On November 1, 2023, the “2023 China-Australia Forum” was successfully held, hosted by the Center for Australian Studies of ECNU and the Institute of Regional and National Studies of the College of Foreign Languages (IRNS). China-Australia Forum is a brand activity of the Center for Australian Studies of ECNU, which has been held regularly since 2016.
Chaired by Prof. Chen Hong and Prof. Hou Minyue of the Center for Australian Studies, the forum invited Prof. Colin Mackerras, a renowned Australian sinologist and winner of the “Friendship Prize of the Chinese Government”, and Wenche Ommundsen, an internationally renowned scholar of discrete literature and Professor of Literature at the University of Wollongong. Prof. Wenche Ommundsen delivered two lectures on “China-Australia Relations in 2023” and “The Past and Present Life of Discrete Literature” respectively.
The forum explored the diverse and complex bilateral relationship between China and Australia from different perspectives, and played an important role in deepening the understanding of China-Australia relations among the participating students and teachers.
