On December 7, the National Competition of “Understanding Contemporary China” (Multi-language Group) of the 2023 “Foreign Research Service–ETIC Cup” was held in Beijing. Zheng Jiayi, a 2023 graduate student from the Department of German at the School of Foreign Languages, competed with 14 other German language candidates from various colleges and universities across the country, and finally won the national silver medal with the excellent performance.

　　On the stage, Zheng Jiayi’s interpretation was flexible and fluent, and the speech was well-written with excellent stage presence. Zheng talked about China’s development and achievements in German, demonstrating her excellent comprehensive German language ability and upward-looking spirit of contemporary young scholars, and reflecting the remarkable achievements of the reform and innovation of foreign language education and the implementation of the Civic and Political education of the school.
