On 19th of October 2022, the first Shanghai High School-University Multilingual Showcase (French Session) kicked off, and was broadcast live to all secondary schools in the city that offer French courses. It happened to be the 50th anniversary of the French major in SFL. This showcase is jointly organized by the Key Language Centre Group for Primary and Secondary Schools of the SMEC and the Key Language Education Research Centre of ECNU. It aimed to provide an exchanging platform for university and high school French learning students in Shanghai, and thus to promote building an eco-system for the development of collaborative education around university basic education. Professor Wang Wenxin from SISU, Professor Zhang Haomin, Vice Dean of SFL of ECNU and Guo Kanliang, Researcher of the Teaching and Research Office of SMEC attended the event.
After the opening ceremony, three theme shows were put on. The first theme was the video shows on “ECNU Campus Life “. The second was the video shows produced by secondary school students to tell the story of Shanghai in French. The third theme, “Ask Me, Answer Me”, was an interactive session in which the high school students exchanged their study experiences and discussed their future plans with their university counterparts.
SFL will continue to promote joint presentations of other languages in high schools and universities, dedicated to cultivate more international foreign language talents for the future implementation of the national program of “promoting Chinese culture to the world”.
