Through October 3rd to 5th, the finals of the China Daily’s “21st Century Cup” of National English Speech Contest were successfully held. ECNU’s contestant Ma Xinyi (a 2021-graduate student of English Department, supervised by Prof. Zhao Chaoyong) won the first prize in the youth category, and He Yujie (a 2019-undergraduate student of School of Social Development, supervised by Hu Jing) won the third prize in the university category.

In the semi-finals and finals, more than 400 young people from all over China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, gathered in the Cloud for the first time to deliver speeches on themes such as “Hometown” and “Win-Win Cooperation”, paying tribute to our motherland and the 20th CPC Congress.
The “21st Century Cup” is intended to select contestants for the international English speech contest held in London, UK every May, dedicated to sending outstanding youth onto the international stage to broadcast the voice of China.
