From October 27th to 29th, 2023, the 9th Discourse Linguistics Symposium and the 7th Daxia Interdisciplinary Linguistics Forum, sponsored by the National Association of Discourse Linguistics and hosted by the School of Foreign Languages of East China Normal University, were held in Minhang Campus. The theme of this academic event is “Integration, Innovation and Development of Discourse Linguistics in the New Era”, which attracted more than 150 foreign language teachers and graduate students from colleges and universities nationwide.
The forum invited eight renowned experts and scholars to make keynote speeches and academic dialogues:

5. “The construction and persuasion function of metaphor in discourse” by Prof. Wen Xu, College of Foreign Languages, Southwest University, China
6. “The discourse analysis of ecocriticism on the rhetoric of “Bleaching Green” by Prof. Miao Xingwei, School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Normal University
7. “The systemic functional model of textbook discourse research” by Prof. Yang Yanning, School of Foreign Languages, East China Normal University
8. “A discourse perspective analysis of social media boastful communication” by Prof. Ren Wei, School of Foreign Languages, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
In the discussion session of the expert forum, young teachers and master and doctoral students from various universities, with their research interests, had a warm academic discussion with the experts.
