On Oct. 8, 2023, the rehearsal of the school audition of East China Normal University for the 2023 National English Speech Contest “ETIC Cup—Understanding Contemporary China” was held on the Minhang Campus. The competition, which ranks as a national class A contest, aims to guide college students to understand contemporary China, deeply comprehend the core meaning of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, promote the cultivation of English-speaking skills and cross-cultural consciousness, and improve their ability to tell China’s story and spread China’s voice in English.

A total of 87 students applied for the competition, among which 23 students advanced to the Campus Selection Competition. The final three contestants, Xiang Yuansi (23rd grade, majoring in Journalism and Communication), Li Jingyuan (22nd grade, majoring in Japanese) and Gong Ruoyan (23rd grade, majoring in German), will represent East China Normal University to participate in the finals in Shanghai.
