On May 21, 2022, the 15th Pronunciation and Intonation Contest of the School of Foreign Languages of ECNU was successfully held on the Tencent Conference Platform. Organized by the Center of Teaching and Research of Spoken Language of SFL of ECNU, the contest presented an unprecedented online speech competition for universities nationwide at the critical moment of the epidemic.

The competition consisted of three parts: word reading, newscast, and poetry recitation. Each group of contestants showed their skills and perfect ability to handle phonetic intonation and emotions, fully demonstrating their solid basic knowledge and sufficient daily accumulation. The competition set up the best speech intonation award, the best teaching assistant award, group awards and others.

After the sharp rivalry between the contestants, the class chorus session presented the strong friendship between the participating students and teachers. The impact of the epidemic prevented everyone from coming together, but the unrehearsed chorus also showed the extremely strong cohesion and fellowship of ECNUers.

ECNU’S phonetic intonation competition has been going on for fifteen years since 2008, and has become a brand teaching activity of the University, which both promotes the progress of students’ phonetics and injects fresh vitality into the field of phonetic research.
