From June 10 to 13, 2022, the national final of the 24th “FLTRP-ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition for College Students was successfully held. 138 teams from more than 400 colleges nationwide were promoted to the national final after the regional competition, and the ECNU contestants qualified for the final with the first prize in the East China Region. Nearly 300 contestants had an inspiring competition in the 4-day final event. Finally, under the guidance of Professor Zhao Chaoyong, our team players Ma Xinyi (a master’s student of Class 2021) and Xian Yu (an undergraduate student of Class 2019) achieved the third prize.

Our school has attached great importance to the national heavyweight English events for university students, and the College English Teaching Department has set up a competition workshop for this purpose to enhance the cultivation of compound foreign language talents with excellent results. Under the guidance of Prof. Zhao Chaoyong’s team, members of the workshop have won many awards in the National College English Debating Competitions.
