From July 16th to 22nd, a team of student volunteers from the School of Foreign Languages went to Xundian No.1 Middle School in Yunnan province to carry out summer camp activities, focusing on four major themes of English learning methods, English phonetics, cross-cultural communication, and the first exploration of career development to offer thematic courses; at the same time, they organized and planned the Phonetic Intonation Competition and provided students with systematic and detailed pre-competition training, aiming at promoting learning through competition, stimulating the interest of students in English learning, and improving their language skills.

According to the students’ on-site performance, the contest awarded team awards, individual awards and other honors, and the guests presented the awards to the winners. Yan Wenqing, director of the University English Teaching Department, served as a judge.

It is reported that ECNU’s SFL has paired with Xundian Jinshuo Middle School to carry out the “English Proficiency Enhancement” quality education support project since 2020, and the team started to offer online English listening and speaking courses to the ECNU experimental class of Xundian in the fall semester of 2022, at the frequency of two class hours per week, and has achieved considerable results.
