On Nov, 30th, the final of the 25^th 21st Century Cup National English Speaking Competition  Shanghai area was held in the hall of Yifu Building, Tongji University. After fierce competition, Wang Yan, a law major student, winning the grand prize（(the highest award)）gained access to the national final. Zhong Jiaqi, an English major student, was awarded the first prize.

In this competition, 31 students from colleges and universities in Shanghai madeexcellent speeches based on the topic of “No person is an Island.” There were three parts in the competition: a prepared speech, an impromptu speech and Q&A. Under the guidance of Mr. Zhao Chaoyong, Wang Yan gave full play to her strength and ranked among top 3 with her rich content and fluent delivery. The students’ excellent performancehas shown ECNU’s strength  in college English teaching, and demonstrated innovative abilityof ECNUers.
