Today we tell a story of Le Thi Thuy Ngan, an undergraduate student of English (International Students) in the class of 2019.
I am Le Thi Tuy Ngan, a Vietnamese girl. I love Chinese very much, but at the beginning, Chinese was a nightmare for me. Without any basic knowledge of the language, I found it very difficult to learn, so all I could say was only “nihao (hello)” and “zaijian (goodbye)”. I had to bury myself in the study, reading newspapers, writing essays, listening to Chinese music, and watching Chinese films. By and by, I seemed to have started to taste the joy of learning Chinese. I finally passed the HSK with flying colors and was able to speak this language fluently.
In August 2019, I came to ECNU and became a part of it! But because of the sudden covid-19 epidemic outbreak, we started online classes. Luckily, the school curriculum remained rich, and a variety of online activity competitions were organized. I signed up for all the online Chinese language competitions, big and small, and won several times. In the process, I learnt more about Chinese language and culture, as well as Chinese society. Slowly, I changed from a girl with low self-esteem to a confident girl!
Through four years of continuous efforts, I was awarded the honor of Outstanding Graduate of East China Normal University.
Bravely stepping out of my comfort zone, life has changed incredibly. Just like me, stepping through the doors of the school, becoming Vice President of the Student Union, an International Student Ambassador, and a minor blogger, the experience is getting more and more colorful ...... All in all, studying in China and studying at ECNU has changed my life, and a thousand words cannot express my gratitude to the school and all the teachers. I want to enjoy my study abroad life to the fullest, develop myself holistically, and embrace a brighter and shinier future with a smile on my face!
